This was really fun! It was even more fun when I realized I had a gift certificate to Hobby Lobby I received for Christmas! I went there knowing I wanted to buy a wreath frame and when I saw the zig zag twig wreath, I fell in love with it and knew with a couple little birds sitting on it....it would be perfect! All you need for this project is a few flowers that "pop", a few bushels of "filler" flowers, the wreath, and hot glue gun...oh, and unless you are strong enough to break wire...you will want wire cutters.
Cut the silk flowers leaving about an inch from the flower. Then place them where you think you want them. Then, just glue em down!

Claire's Quiet Book!

I had someone on Etsy make Claire a personalized Quiet book. She loves it and carries it around like a blanket! She is walking everywhere now, and of course with her view a little higher has started to climb up on everything! Her favorite word is "Dog" and everything and everyone is called that! Alex is loving Preschool! He can say the Pledge of Alliegence, and hums the 7 days in a week song. We went and sat in the Firetruck the other day for a field trip. He thought that was so cool!

Claire loves fashion...still mostly eating it up! EVERYTHING goes in her mouth STILL. I keep thinking she is going to grow out of that phase....but no...she eats toilet paper, poop, jewelry, and yesterday dirt. Yes...poop...a nice big chunk that I got stuck in her four front teeth that I had to "brush" out.

Claire loves attention! I love this picture of her! She has recently started to find ALL sorts of ways to get attention. If I pull something out of her mouth....she immediately throws her head back and does this drop and roll exercise, and then rolls back and forth like a puppy thrashing her head and screaming. It's hard to ignore, especially when she stops for half a second to open her eyes to make sure I am watching the drama! What a BIG personality in such a little body!!!

Addison lives next door to us! Alex and her get along better than anyone I have had over for him to play with! Too bad arranged marriages are not still around...cause I think she would be my first pick! They are so cute together and Alex often mentions wanting to go to Addie's house. (Next to Grandma's house). So Addison was over playing and started smootchin on my boy! Obviously, he didn't mind so much and took advantage of the opportunity and started kissing right back!

So Alex really thought this preschool activity was cool! I had him dump the dirt (dry pudding mix) in the bowl and then he put the milk in. While laying Claire down I could hear him say over and over quietly... "mmm..this is good! mmmm. this is good!" before it was mixed. I was excited that he recognized the letter "D" from last month while reviewing since he doesn't look like he is paying attention. This was a fun way for Alex to be involved with learning and the poor worms didn't stand much of a chance!

Alex loves to make Claire smile...it is often his daily goal! Sometimes he is trying too hard and is in her face, but most of the time she gives him a big smile! It was fun to watch him play peekaboo with her one day and she thinks he is the COOLEST thing she has ever seen. She already really looks up to him!

Alex loved painting his ornament. He was a little upset when he painted the top white and the colors blended, but was still very proud of his train! It is funny how kids are. Just today he yelled from the bath tub "Mom I am Okay!!!" Kids are so proud and want attention when they get hurt, when we as adults are embarrassed if we trip in front of people. Oh to be a kid again! :)

I got some cheese out for Alex and then got distracted with something else for a minute. He got himself a knife (plastic) and starting cutting away, except it wasn't the sharpest knife, so he ended up digging pieces out of it instead. Don't we all wish we were a kid again? When we were a kid, we wished we were "Big".

Trick or treating was fun this year because Alex knew what to do. He was more interested in the leaves about the 10th house, but we figured that was enough candy for a 3 year old anyway! He was a cute dinosaur...which he picked out and Claire was the cutest and best smelling skunk!

I often hold her legs up to make sure she is done, but that wasn't the case this time...she smiled each time and I think she may have been doing it on purpose!...It's almost like she is posing too! She has figured out when we lie her down that if she screams for 5 minutes we will hold her and she can fall asleep in our arms...so I figured out if I let her scream for 6 minutes she will knock herself out...maybe she has figured out a way to get even!

So, I was talking to a friend the other day in frustration because Alex has not been the terrible two year old he usually is...but the TERRIBLE two year old he usually isn't. To explain further what I mean...Alex never seemed to go through "terrible two's". He had his moments, but hindsight...he has been pretty good. So when Claire came along a month ago, I have since realized that he has actually been a very mild two year old. It seems he has lost his hearing, doesn't need a mom or dad anymore because he can "do it himself". (anything and everything). And thinks "Mom needs a spank for taking his toy away that he was using to hit with". So the wonderful advice from my friend was that maybe he is bored. I knew that, but with a new baby I get very preoccupied with poopies, blowouts, feedings, and spit ups. I broke out Dad's shaving cream and to my amazement Alex was focused (as in photo) for 45 minutes. Those of you who know anything about the attention span of a two year old...that is like a year in time! Try it! It is antibacterial and super easy to clean up and cleans while you clean up!

Claire has curls, so I wanted to get a picture of them and update and post some photos. She has had 3 REALLY bad nights. I am thinking it may be from me eating dairy, but let me know if you have any suggestions or possible causes of a very gassy baby. She is smiling and has been since she was about 4 days old. People say it is gas, but she smiles back. Alex is starting to accept Claire as part of the family. He has loved having her, just showing signs of lacking attention! When he wants my attention desperately...he will say "Put her back!"...meaning in the car seat, swing or wherever is close so he can get my undivided attention.

I love having a little girl! I am in the process of buying some cute bows from a friend of a friend...if anyone is interested...her name is Lally and her cost is very reasonable. She is at www.cutiebows.blotspot.com (I think).

So we decided to change her name, but we just can't give up the Claire and both Love that name, but just feel her name is Kamery...so decision that will probably stand is to add a hyphen and her name be Kamery-Claire JoLee Kirk (JoLee after the two middle names of her grandmothers)

She was born Sept. 18th at around 7:00pm! 7lbs 14 ounces....she looks alot like Alex did, but just more feminine and has a cute feminine cry. We are happy to have her finally here and is such a fun addition to our family!

Hi! I feel like the only time I post lately is when I have made something I can brag about...I will do better about posting more updates on my family!...but here is my latest projects. I am adding the train to try and sell on Etsy tomorrow (karakirk.etsy.com), the butterfly is already on there. Let me know if you want anything on my site...and I will give you a nice discount since I wouldn't have to pay a fee! :) Everything is good here! I am still pregnant and HOT...not in an attractive way...of course! I am doing well...no pulled muscles recently, just very uncomfortable, but women do it all the time right? Alex and Andrew are doing well! Alex patted my tummy today when we all took a nap on our bed and said "baby okay mommy?". Hm, I wonder how much he understands right now, but I am sure he will understand a little better when she comes! (Sept 19th)

Dresses I just made!

So I decided to live in sun dresses for the rest of the hot pregnant summer I have a head of me! I made myself four. I don't have photos of those, but I had material left over from two of them to make four little girl sun dresses I do have photos for.... I am going to try and sell 2 out of the 4 in my Etsy store that are duplicates and keep the other 2 for our new baby. I am having fun getting ready for baby girl no name! We havn't found one to agree on yet. It is a big decision because you will hear that name constantly and she will to for the rest of her life! I have procrastinated searching for a girl name. I am due Sept 19th...so I have time, but if you want to share any with me...we can go from there. So far we have agreed on a few names....Maylee, Allee (we like the Lee because my Mother-In-Law's middle name is Lee...but pronounced Ally), and Claire. I am getting excited now that I have gotten some very cute girl clothes. A friend of mine who purchased girl clothes and never had a girl decided to get rid of them...all brand new things. Can't beat a better bargain than that! (I did trade her for some Scentsy stuff though)

Getting Ready for Baby Girl!

I saw something similar in a store to the butterfly and decided I wasn't going to buy it and go hungry for a week, so I made something like it myself....along with a dragonfly. I am getting excited to have a little girl and must admit the cute bows and shoes have started to get the best of me! We decided to convert our storage closet into a baby room (It is big....about 5 feet wide 8 feet long). I have to say, I think it looks really cute and better than I though considering it is a closet.

My brother-in-law started a business called OmniManage and they made a web app that is a really cool way for small businesses to keep track of their company details. Its called DaytaLists. It aims to replace spreadsheets being used as information management programs. It's as easy as using a spreadsheet, but it's a lot more efficient than a spreadsheet for storing lots of information/details about your business, kind of like Microsoft Access or similar programs. Anyway, check it out and tell me what you think. He has just started marketing it so if you have any advice about how to make the website better or any good marketing ideas, I'm sure he would be grateful.

Completed pottery projects

The Elephant Bank I was making for Alex was supposed to turn out blue. One thing I have learned this far is that the glaze NEVER turns out as you expect...and sometimes better than you expected, but not too excited about how the color turned out. Alex now has a purple elephant bank! The tall rectangular-like cylinder was intended to be half the size it is. I decided to make this bank when I found out we were having a girl. But I am happy the 3D flowers turned out and didn't fall off in the kiln firing. The leaf was a 20 minute project. I had 20 minutes left of class and didn't want to go home early to face momhood...so I decided to make a foot long leaf. I meant for it to be a leaf platter, but wet clay doesn't hold form without support.....so it ended up being fall decor!

This one didn't turn out like I pictured it or wanted it to, but A for effort right! It is supposed to be a small platter/tray like piece. (about 6 inches long 4 inches wide 2 inches high) Andrew said it would be good for keys and wallet. Let me know what you think and what color you think I should glaze it.

Pottery...One of my new favorite things!

So I started taking a pottery class. I was complaining to Andrew how day in and day out I do the same things (I love being at home with Alex), but miss stimulation to the brain. (For all of you mom's out there...I am sure you know what I am talking about). When the class opened up I decided to give it a try. Well unknown to myself...I have found the class to be very therapeutic and decided to go get my own tools since the class is coming to an end. I wanted to post what I have already made, but it is at school, so I will brag about those later, but here is my project I am working on at home at the time. The plan is for it to be a vase.

So...despite a storm that hit on Alex's birthday, we still made the drive to Chuck E Cheese to celebrate. He now knows...after some practice to answer "two" when asked how old he is. He is growing so fast! His favorite question is "Mom wherewegoin?" He is a fabulous singer and loves the sunbeam song. He said his first real prayer by himself last week. He included "Gamma and Manda" without any help. It is fun to see him using his agency...most of the time. I am having fun making it a tradition to make Alex's birthday cake each year...

Happy Anniversary!!! What??? Provo??

So, I booked our Bed and Breakfast a month and a half in advance. I was planning ahead to find the perfect place to stay in Park City for our Anniversary. The night before we were planning to drop Alex off to Grandma, I thought it would be a good idea to get the address and directions to our Hotel. To our surprise, it was located in Provo! Yeah, I really messed that one up! But our room had a hot tub, so that made up for it. Our favorite thing we did on our getaway was go to the Lagoon. Hearing Andrew say while going up before being dropped 80 feet on the "Rocket" ride, "I don't think this was a good idea!"...was hilarious...you had to hear the tone of his voice to get the humor of the situation. We rode almost every ride, had barbequed corn on the cob and swam at Lagoon A Beach. It was great and happy to say we made it 3 years! ...and couldn't be happier!

Alex loves his Baby Einstein videos. After watching half of the musical instrument one Andrew got out his trombone played it to show Alex how it worked. Then he let Alex have at it and he was fixed on it for a while. He looked like he just won a trip to Disney Land!

The candle wax goes into a cute warmer which melts at a minimal temperature to release scent. It melts it with a light bulb instead of having a wick so it cuts down on the soot and is safe for business and children. I have over 60 scents to choose from. Alex is reading his Favorite book "David Goes to School" to his friend Joel. They are usually partners in crime and love playing together. They are learning how to communicate, but of course both of them think the toy the other one has is the toy they should have.

Easter Egg Hunt!

Alex loved finding Easter Eggs this year. Every time he would see an egg he would get a surprised look on his face and run over to it. They were decorated like balls though, so he liked to smash them together and listen to them crack. Needless to say, most of them weren't edible when he was through with the hunt.

I baked the cakes and Andrew decorated them. I thought he did an excellent job. Alex was thrilled to be able to choose which ball he wanted but after everyone sang to him he was hesitant to dig in. He didn't like messy fingers, so we ended up with a crying baby with sticky hands. But he definately likes to be the center of attention!

Started a Garden

I just planted a garden! It is my first time ever gardening, so if anyone has suggestions I am happy to take them. I planted peppers, tomatoes, zuchini, spinach, broccoli, cucumber, carrots, onions, beans and sugar snap peas. Yes, it was an impulsive idea and I went a little overboard, but so far everything but the peppers have sprouted.
